This is a beautiful tin. Look at that solid piece of trout! There were a couple of smaller pieces under it, but it was such a treat to open the can to such a pretty piece. No skin or bones at all.

The flavour was lovely. Wonderfully flaky, smoked fish. My only mild complaint is that the more I ate, the saltier it became. Checking the back showed 1.3 grams(!) of salt per 100g fish, or nearly 1.5 grams per tin. It probably would have been a good idea to split the tin or keep half for now and half for later.

I ate it with some toasted, seeded brown bread but I think it would also go really well with potatoes. It was a pricey tin, but well worth it as a treat!

Dayum that’s a nice piece of fish. Love it when it’s packed and stays in one big piece like that.

That’s a really nicely packed tin. I will have to keep an eye out.

I’ll just offer the observation, based on my own smoking of trout, salmon, herring, and other fish, that 1 gram of salt for 100 grams of deeply-smoked fish is right on target.

Looks delicious! Can I buy these in the States? If so, where?
