Ever since “The Bear” was released on FX, we’ve been reinvigorated by making classic recipes, like an omelet filled with cheese and topped with potato chips and, of course, the classic Chicago favorite Italian beef sandwich. The Windy City was really onto something with the slow-cooked, juicy beef topped with tangy, pickled giardiniera or peppers on a hearty bread roll.
While an Italian beef sandwich shop is a dime a dozen in Chi-Town, the sandwich can be harder to come by in other parts of the country—unless you’re lucky enough to have a Portillo’s location nearby.
But, now, the tasty regional sandwich is going national for the first time ever—all thanks to the chain that “has the meats.” Arby’s is adding an Italian Beef Dip sandwich to its menu for a limited time.
Arby’s Launches New Italian Beef Dip Sandwich
Arby’s
Arby’s is bringing the Chicago-style treatment to its iconic roast beef sandwiches.
The new Italian Beef Dip sandwich starts with flavorful roast beef that’s slow-roasted for four hours, then thinly sliced. A mountain of that beef goes on a warm sub roll, the same one Arby’s uses for its Classic French Dip & Swiss sandwich, and is topped with a melty layer of Swiss cheese.
Then, to make it a true Italian beef sandwich, the Italian Beef Dip is topped with Arby’s first-ever Vienna Giardiniera, which is made with a medley of herby, zesty, tangy pickled veggies and spicy peppers.
The final pièce de résistance is a side of savory au jus sauce, again the same as the Classic French Dip & Swiss sandwich, for flavorful, juicy dipping.
Arby’s teamed up with “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt, who is currently prepping for her Broadway debut in “Chicago,” to announce the news. Decked out in a “Hot Girls Eat Arby’s” tracksuit and enjoying the new Italian Beef Dip sandwich, what else could put the “Dancing With the Stars” alum in the Chicago mindset?
The new Italian Beef Dip sandwich is available at participating Arby’s restaurants nationwide now, where it will be sold for a limited time alongside the chain’s other new menu additions, including the Peach Cobbler Roll and Meat & 3 meal deal. The Arby’s drive-thru is calling our name and the only appropriate response is “yes, chef” between bites of Italian beef.
