Italy’s ambassador to Oslo, Stefano Nicoletti, spoke about Italian cuisine, which has entered the Unesco list of intangible cultural heritage, at a team-building event of managers of the Italian gourmandise chain Smak av Italia, a company that promotes quality Italian food and has been present in Norway for many years with a wide selection of products from Italian manufacturers.

In his speech, the ambassador argued that it is not only a matter of promoting authentic Italian eno-gastronomic products, the fruit of the passion of our farmers and breeders, on the Norwegian market, but also of presenting and spreading the values of sociality and well-being associated with the Mediterranean diet and recipes that reflect the values and traditions of different communities. This is why UNESCO has given Italian cuisine this recognition, which enhances a supply chain that in 2024 exported products worth 68 billion euros to the world, of which 269 million euros went to Norway.

Let’s look for authentically Italian products and be wary of Italian sounding that damages the whole sector and Italy’s image on the world’s tables, was the invitation addressed by the ambassador.
