French bakery Patisserie Manuel, located at 8810 Brookville Road in Silver Spring, has permanently closed, according to a message shared by owner and chef Claudia Olea.

In a closing notice, Olea said the decision was made for personal reasons after much prayer and reflection. She shared that what began as a God given dream in 2012 grew into a bakery, a community, and a place filled with love and memories, and she expressed gratitude to her family, staff, and loyal customers for their support over the years.

Patisserie Manuel was known for its French pastries and desserts, including cakes, croissants, Cannelé de Bordeaux, and macarons, along with Latin American specialties such as churrasco and empanadas. The bakery also previously operated a location in the Montgomery Mall food court from 2019 through 2021.

Chef Claudia named the bakery in honor of her late father, Manuel Olea, whose face was featured in the bakery’s official logo. While the bakery has closed, she noted that she may continue baking on a personal basis and plans to host baking camps this summer in partnership with a local business.

With a very heavy heart, I share that due to personal reasons, Patisserie Manuel has closed its operations permanently.

What began as a God-given dream in 2012 became a bakery, a community, and a place filled with love and memories. I am endlessly grateful to God, to my family for their unwavering support, and to our incredible team whose passion and talent made this journey possible.

To our loyal clients and friends, thank you for trusting us to be part of your most meaningful celebrations. Because of you, Patisserie Manuel grew far beyond what we ever imagined, from Silver Spring to the DMV and beyond.

This decision came after much prayer and reflection. While this chapter closes, the love for the art of pastry remains strong, and we trust that new opportunities lie ahead.
