[homemade] Today is my birthday so I made myself a favorite childhood treat- untoasted bagel with cream cheese and coco puffs


It’s weird, I know, but the chocolate flavor plus the salty creamy cheese just hits right to me. Will it potentially mess up the roof of your mouth with dry cereal? I can’t say no. But it’s worth it to me.

    Couldn’t you crush the cocoa puffs and sprinkle the dust on the cream cheese to get the same flavor without the mess?

    I simultaneously think this looks gross but at the same time want to create my childhood snack of peanut butter on a graham cracker topped with Chex cereal to see if it still hits like it used to.

    Feel like you could achieve this flavor profile with Nutella without the dry “roof of mouth cutting” texture. Unless that’s part of the appeal.

    We used to do this with nacho cheese dortitos in school. Works really well for a shit bagel

    If you like spicy, try flaming hot cheetos instead of coco puffs. It’s what my friends and I did as kids. It’s amazing.

    I’m intrigued. Have you tried this with a toasted bagel? If so, is it a nostalgic preference for the untoasted bagel, or does the toasted bagel lessen the enjoyment?

    Try doritos with icen cream (just a scoop of ice crea but instead of using the spoon you use a doeitos chip) and/or Coca-Cola with bread (you put the bread in the liquid let it soak a little bit and eat it)

    Wanted so suggest other weird sht but ppl are not prepared for it

    I’ve seen way weirder food combinations that people just acted like they were normal.

    When my friends daughter was younger she would take all the crumbs from the bottom of chip bags then add ketchup and mustard and mix them in a bowl, eating it like cereal.

    That’s always the one that makes me wince.

    This is “Rabbit Drops on Snow”. And while that’s not what It was originally called, that is what the youth call it now.

    A traditional Yugopotamian snack from the Third era of conquest. The reason for the change to “coco puffs” was due to a nation wide allergy to full chocolate. The chocolate used in coco puffs is refined enough that it does not literally poison the people there but they still get to enjoy the simulated chocolate taste. It’s almost like a forbidden treat because of this history.

    To most of the world their land would be almost alien. A lot of snow and it’s always cold, many of them wear heavy body suits to keep them warm, and don’t much care for toasted bagels. It’s just not really a “thing” there especially combined with the coco puffs for a satisfying crunch

    I’d 100% eat this and I am not joking. People really snooze on the chocolate cheese combo. Reminds me of my weird childhood favorite that my mom would make – pan-heated tortillas sprinkled with cheese and chocolate chips. The cheese and chocolate melt together in a perfect gooey savory-sweet mixture.

    At first glance I thought It was a weird take/attempt on a smørgåstorta with Swedish meatballs.

    Ha! Nice. Reminds me of when I was in High School and we would put nacho Doritos on buttered bagels and cool ranch Doritos on cream cheese bagels. Never would this thought have crossed my mind. Now I have to try it 😂

    It isn’t THAT weird. In the Netherlands, They have something called Hagelslag, which just toast with butter and sprinkles. And it isn’t just a niche thing there So, I guess this is similar.

    The problem with this is, if I attempted it, stoned, I would then attempt to try every possible combination of bagel, cream cheese and cereal. So I refuse to open Pandora’s box

    I say this with love in my heart, I genuinely thought it was homemade dog food for a split second before I realized what I was looking at. Happy birthday, though! I bet it is good, I like cream cheese on banana bread so I can dig it.
