ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Friends of Christmas Community Dinner returned for its 38th year, offering a festive Italian meal to anyone in need this holiday season.
The event took place Saturday at the First United Methodist Church on Chestnut Street in Oneonta. Hundreds of Oneonta residents attended to enjoy a warm meal, with takeout and delivery options also available.
Chobani contributed $10,000 to help cover the cost of meals and provide funds for local food pantries.
The Friends of Christmas Community Dinner is set to host its 38th annual event, continuing a beloved tradition in Oneonta.
“This isn’t always an easy time. Maybe you’ve lost a spouse, or you’re divorced, or your kids went away to college, or you’re low on funds. Everybody comes here. Everybody’s welcome. It really is the true meaning of Christmas,” said Sarah Hartmann, the co-director of the Friends of Christmas Community Dinner.
In addition to a full stomach, each guest received a warm winter hat, courtesy of Chobani.
