Hello r/FoodLosAngeles!

So I mentioned before about wanting to give something back to this community for all the love and support you all have shown me. I made root beer, from the actual roots it used to be made from! And before anyone asks, the chemical found naturally in Sassafras, called safrole, that was shown to have a carcinogenic effect in super high doses in rats, far higher than you would ever find in root beer, also freezes at 50 degrees, then settles to the bottom and is very easy to separate. So the chemical that was of questionable safety at worst, is easily removed.

So I have 24 bottles of handmade root beer for free as a holiday gift to the first 24 people in line. Considering my line the last few weeks, I doubt it will last longer than 30 minutes.

ALSO, last weekend, I served 50 people in 90 minutes, averaging roughly 2 minutes per sandwich. I think it is safe to say that my new ways of doing the sandwiches is cutting down the lines pretty drastically. Thank you all for your support and patience as I figure out this whole process!

The food:

LA Cheesesteaks, smoked beef short rib, smoked and confit beef cheeks, onions, bell peppers, garlic and cheddar cheese on freshly baked, handmade rolls, with a handmade beef jus for dipping – $10, or 2 for $18.

Dessert:

Browned Butter Apple Cider Brioche Cinnamon Rolls – $3

I made apple cider from real apples, a few types of citrus, zest, herbs and spices, then I used it instead of water in any part of the recipe that calls for water, or milk. Toasted the flour before baking, browned the butter, sautéed apples for the filling with sugar, spices and more apple cider, then frosted with a caramelized sugar and apple cider glaze.

Location:

Sunday: My usual spot next to the driveway to Barnsdall Art Park on Hollywood and N Berendo St from 12 to 5 (or until we sell out).

Insta:/Big_Beautiful_BBQ, I'll be posting there if and when we sell out so I dont spam this sub. Also, there is no politics behind the name, the unfortunate naming similarity to any bills, is pure coincidence and I have owned the name far longer than any similarly named bills in congress.

Also, HUGE shoutout to u/elizabeth_strano for some absolutely stunning food photography, I am in LOVE with her work. She is also a lovely human being to work with.
