I was fortunately gifted with a Performer (Blue) and a Special Edition (Red) Kettle. Initially I was happy to just have the Performer, but I couldn’t say no to a free grill.

If you had to keep one, which one is worth keeping? I like the Performer for the table top, but it’s bulkier and doesn’t have a thermometer.

The Special Edition red one is nice as it has a thermometer, but it’s just otherwise a standard grill, albeit an aesthetic one because of the red.

Now I could keep them both, but what the heck is the use case for having 2 grills? Keep in mind while I could keep two, my backyard real estate is limited so I want to be intentional with my space. I also have a Weber Genesis already so that would be 3 grills in my backyard.

Keep them both, you’ll find a good reason to fire them both up….

Look who’s just had to show off his 2 Webers, and here I am with only 1

I mean, probably keep the one that’s harder to find. Or the performer if you really need the table. The main thing is a second kettle is nice because on that blue one you could be doing a rotisserie chicken and then on the other one, you could be doing burgers and hotdog. Or you could use one for quick food foods and then use the other for a snake method smoke like a brisket or pork shoulder. Really depends on how often you need a second grill to make a lot of burgers or chicken if you’re hosting a large gathering of friends or family. But realistically, the propane grill might help out with that more easily.

How often do you host? If you’re hosting large gatherings often, then in my experience, you can never have enough grilling platforms. If you’re not hosting much then I’d probably get rid of the one if there’s space concerns. Which one you get rid of would totally be preference and your specific needs. I have four different outdoor cooking platforms (a pellet smoker, a Weber gas grill, a Weber kettle, and a fire pit) so I’d definitely be into a more the merrier approach, but that’s my preference.

I have the red one and love it. Smoked my first brisket on it about 6 years ago. Do all kinds of things on it, desserts, baked potatoes, smoked meats. And it looks almost as good as the day I got it. Absolutely love my red Weber.

Share the grilling love. What are the chances you will need two at the same time?

If you haven’t had reason for two grills in the last year or two – ditch one. I’d Keep the one with the table. I have two bc I upgraded to the performer on a marketplace find and I’ve yet to need the second one – not even close to needing it.

i had 2 Webers for a number of years and they came in handy when we had any more than a couple of friends and their kids over. i use a two-zone setup for just about everything and, when you halve a 22″ grill, there isn’t that much space.

Definitely keep the Performer, that and the Genesis are a helluva capable combo, especially with that smoker expansion/rotisserie rig. I’ve found the table to be *such* an understated benefit.

I would probably hold onto that red one too, at least initially. As others have mentioned it’s nice to be able to have the smoker/rotisserie going, while being able to do burgers, steaks, dogs, etc for lunch or whatever at the same time.

Maybe eventually pass it along to another friend or family member who expresses interest somewhere down the line, if you don’t find yourself using the secondary setup enough to justify the extra space it takes up. This is exactly what i did when I found myself with a similar setup.

    Play. Explore. Have fun!

I would keep both if you have the room! Bother are great grills that will last a long while. You can always drill a hole for a thermometer in the Performer and add one but I would just honestly recommend leaving it the way it is and getting a probe-style thermometer which will be more accurate. The red special edition can do both smoking and hot and fast grilling well enough that you don’t fully need the Performer.

I’ve got two. And I’ve lit them both of plenty of time. A kettle is great, but it’s not them at big. Sometimes you need more space for more food!

Also I use my second one as a place to put my charcoal chimney so I can get the first one ready at the same time

Convert one into a smoker with a Venom Spider.

Smoking and searing. Searing and smoking. Grilling and roasting.

    I can go on?

  14. Don’t add a Tstat… it will damage the coating & accelerate rusting & there isn’t a real need for grillling or smoking!
If you want temp control use wired or wireless temp probes for accurate temp.

Use one grill for seafood or as parts backup.

I’m keeping the performer. The 2nd one is kind of redundant.

Free? You keep both because you can.

I’d keep both. Say you got family over and you got a brisket or butt on one and want to grill some burgers and dogs for the kids or the main meal is a few hours off ya can use the backup. Neither are huge so it’s just more space.
