The Volunteer Transportation Center Foundation has changed the date of its Annual North Country Chili Cook-Off, moving the in-person event to Saturday, March 14, due to a scheduling conflict.
The in-person cook-off and awards ceremony will be held at the Dulles State Office Building in Watertown.
The restaurant-to-restaurant chili competition will proceed as originally planned, with participating restaurants across Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties offering chili for voting from Sunday, Feb. 1, through Wednesday, Feb. 25. Winners will be announced at the March 14 event.
Proceeds from the cook-off benefit the Volunteer Transportation Center, which provides rides to health care appointments, grocery stores and other essential destinations for residents without transportation options.
Organizers say funds raised help support transportation for veterans and their family members, who account for about one-third of those served by volunteer drivers.
