Would appreciate some helpful pointers on if I should eat now or later. This is my first time growing Cherokee Purple, so I‘m unfamiliar with what a ripe fruit is supposed to look like. I looked at some pictures, but the shoulders on mine look super green compared to the dark almost black shoulders that I’ve seen online. I think maybe it’s a genetic issue, but I’m not sure. Seeds were from Botanical Interests 2023 btw. I just don’t want to wait and be disappointed that the fruit is overripe and mealy.

When it gets as far along as this, go by feel, not by color. It should have a little give when pressed gently.

Not even close. The top will be dark with slight green and the rest will be dark red.

Needs potassium, fruit not forming, will take a month to ripen and ripen unevenly
