Hello folks,

I posted a video preparing a flat white a week ago here, and some of you liked that I take my time and the video is not rushed; and some of you told that they could solve a puzzle and prepare and drink a Cortado with the same time I spent for a flat white lol šŸ˜€

This time it was faster. I did not rush of coarse, because still enjoying the process and no reason to be fast, but I used the time efficiently, prepared my pitcher while dialing etc. and I prepared the drink 40% faster compared to the previous one.

I also put some Turkish 70's songs in the background. I hope you like them šŸ™‚
1-) Ajda Pekkan – Seninleyim
2-) Ajda Pekkan – Haram Olsun Bu Aşk Sana

My machine: Sage/Breville Barista Express

Coffe beans:
I bought my coffee beans from a local coffee roastery in Amsterdam called Clapham Coffee Roastry. I tasted their flat white there, liked it and bought the same beans they used.
Origin: Rwanda & Brazil – Natural
The recipe I got from the Barista there was 18.5g in – 38-40g out in 30 seconds.

I hope you enjoy all the steps I go through.

you gotta teach me that latte art! ✨

  2. chirs5757

Looks great. Please close the milk and coffee…..

As a newbie, I have a question or two. Why use both the manual tamper and the screw down? I always thought it was either / or. And why did you pour so much more milk in the jug than you needed for the drink? It looked like there was a lot more left in the jug after you finished. Thanks in advance and thanks for posting the reel!

Went to this cafe last year and also got the same beans. Was a nice experience!

  5. ApricotTechnical3927

What camera did you use to film this?

  6. Memoruiz7

Much better than your 8 minute flat white!

This looks like max faffing to me šŸ˜‚

Honestly just don’t pay attention to the people complaining, sure I make my drink faster but why would I care enough to hate on someone else making their own drink at home lol. Nice setup and I enjoyed your other video that was a little slower, as long as you like it it’s all that matters

You weighed the beans before grinding but didn’t weigh them after grinding, you’d be surprised at the results with this grinder.

  11. SirBeam

You weigh your beans into a mini bed pan

This guy loves coffee, you’re amazing! One question: what are those cookies at the end, and any tips for getting milk that frothy?

  13. PointlessChemist

I imagined that you kissed the portafilter every time you lifted it up high.

I could have sworn I was in the circlejerk sub

Love Ajda in the background! Great choice.

    Two things I’m surprised about:

    – You don’t weigh your ground coffee. Retention is a bastard and tends to be quite unpredictable, at least for me. I’ve ended up with 17.5g of ground coffee in my portafilter after feeding my beast with 18.3g, many times. Your shot looks great, don’t get me wrong – I was just surprised it’s not a part of your workflow given how meticulously you do everything. Maybe try weighing it next time just to see how bad (or good!) your grinder’s retention is.

    – You use the rather annoying espresso timer function on your scale. Ideally, you want to time the extraction from the moment pre-infusion starts, i.e. when you hit the shot button. Yes, some people do it your way, hence why this functionality exists, but on any high-end commercial machine, the timer starts when you press the button. Your barista’s recipe is tailored to that. So you are, technically speaking, over extracting your shots without realising. That shot there was a 50 second shot, which is outside the traditional range. Again, yes, numbers are just numbers and taste is what matters but please try dialling in again and aiming for a shorter shot and see if you like it. I’m certain it will taste a tad smoother and less bitter, which you might enjoy!

Hope this doesn’t come across preachy! Really loved watching it and just wanted to throw in my two cents šŸ™‚

Why go through all that trouble when you’re making a flat white? Do you actually taste the difference?

  17. As long as you enjoy and like YOUR coffee your prep is fine honestly. I really enjoyed watching it and I learned a bit of your set up. I am currently struggling with frothing non-dairy milk so seeing that it is possible and achievable makes me happy that I will be able to do it. Nice drink prepare!! I enjoyed watching it thoroughly.

Not that you asked, but if you hover the tip of the pitcher on the surface of the cream for a split second right before you pull it through, you’ll get a more defined heart shape of the top. Looks lush either way tho homie

  19. ZealousidealPound460

Wait wait wait – am I not supposed to keep the portafilter pressed in to grind the amount I want?

  20. LaserCondiment

Came here for the faff. Not disappointed. Thank you!

  21. BackIn_Five

Did your BBE come at 9 bars, or did you have to adjust the OPV?

  22. Fast_Ad_4936

I would love for this to be served to me right now.

  23. Gumbanks12

Your pose makes me envious. I’m in hospital atm where International Roast is the only “coffee”

  24. FatsDominoPizza

I don’t even begin to understand how one can have enough time to do this.

  25. ExtensionParsnip9800

Probably a stupid question. Why dis you press the Program button at same time the dual cup button?

  26. rxinquestion

I hope to be able to live in a high rise near a busy area one day. Love sipping on coffee while looking out at life in action.

  27. MotiveGFX

I remember the last one was 8 minutes so good job and great pour!

  28. BlueClashV1

I tend to chuckle seeing such equipment and precision only to feel the milk with your hand instead of using a cheap temperature gauge.

  29. JDHogfan

I make my lattes at 7:58am while dialing into my 8am meetings… if I faffed about as much as I as you , I’d never get my morning fuel.

  30. StealthStalker11

Could’ve been the funniest video of all time if you spent like 4 minutes trying to get the puck screen out of the little container after doing everything in a pretty reasonable time :p

  31. cloud93x

This sub is so ridiculous. You’re a beginner struggling with channeling and spraying even though you’re pretty sure you’re at or around the right grind size? ā€œMake sure you’re nailing that puck prep (even though spraying doesn’t necessarily mean channeling and channeling doesn’t have to cause spraying).ā€ Oh now you’re getting great results but it takes 5 minutes to make a flat white? ā€œGod you’re faffing so much, I could never.ā€

  32. UnbiddenGraph17

Tell me you closed the milk and the bag of coffee

  33. Icy_Bandicoot_4362

Your scale just having a seizure in silence

  34. Life_Blackberry_2780

Looks like burnt milk to me…

  35. The_Metal_Pigeon

Nicely done! Do you do anything else with the leftover milk though? Seemed like a lot didn’t get used?
