3.78 Tabelog, 6x Top 100 Tokyo Ramen

Location: Mitaka, Tokyo.

Wait: 30 mins ish wait on a regular saturday 12:30pm.

Ordered: ¥1400 special tsukemen 特製つけ麺 + ¥150 large noodles 大盛

Amazing noodles, tasted great on their own or with just salt, one of the most aromatic noodles I've had, good texture too. The chicken was really well cooked, super soft but still had a nice bite. The pork was pretty decent, solid and smokey. Soup was on the lighter side, but it had a very deep and rich umami. The egg surprised me the most, it looked super unassuming but when it bursted in my mouth it was soo creamy, I don't know what kind of eggs they used but I wish I had a second one. Everything was very refined and well balanced.

The minor nitpicks I had are that their chopsticks were super slippery for this noodle they could really use some textured tips lol. They offer single use bamboo chopsticks too but I already create enough trash living in japan. Also the noodles were served quite cold, towards half way through my large size noodle the soup got cooled down by the noodles to below room temperature, they offer unlimited reheats of the soup so don't forget to take advantage of that, especially after diluting the soup with konbusui. Still I wish they used some sort of stone bowl w/ more thermal mass.

But you might be able to tell how good it is when I have to go out of my way to judge their chopsticks and bowls ahaha. I suppose since they are so highly rated I just had to be extra judgy and it's part of the experience.

Overall a fantastic visit, especially if you prefer a cleaner tasting tsukemen. Definitely worth a trip.

Had no idea this place was well known. It’s a couple blocks from my apartment and I swing by it pretty frequently.

Never tried the tsukemen but might give it a go based on your write-up.

This is the lowest entropy bowl of ramen I’ve ever seen.
