Photo comments are turned on, could you post a comparison pic of the label old ingredients list vs new?

Years ago I LOVED their Salsa Victoria. Fantastic flavor, spicy and not too heavy on the tomatoes. I think it featured Anaheim chiles, which is rare for a common bottled salsa.

Something changed in the early 2000s unfortunately. IMHO they “ketchup-ized” the salsas so much, they weren’t interesting/flavorful anymore. It’s sad because way back when, La Victoria made such terrific products, they helped make salsa popular in the US to begin with. I still remember their original salsa in the late 1970s, which was just labeled as “Chili Dip.”

Looked at the old and new ingredient listing side by side for those curious.

New one says 13 servings per container while old says 15. Same serving size.

New has water after onions. Order of ingredients is usually a sign of the amounts of the ingredients.

New goes Tomatoes, Onions, Water, Tomato Puree (Tomato Paste, water), green Chile peppers, Jalapeño peppers, Cilantro

Old went Tomatoes, Calcium Chloride, Onions, Jalapeño peppers, water, Tomato Puree (water, tomato paste),

Also in new: Calcium Chloride got moved into the 2% or less section

Also, they moved Cilantro out of the 2% or less section just barely (last ingredient that isn’t in the 2% or less section).

TL;DR: They added more water, green Chile peppers, and Cilantro. Put in less calcium Chloride (for firming). Less Jalapeño, and apparently less overall in the container.

Will probably taste like a thinned out version of the old recipe + green chile peppers
