Jefferson Matters is spinning up a new fundraiser that will spotlight local people and their favorite dishes to make.

Director Matt Wetrich says they are putting together “The Tastes of Jefferson” Community Cookbook and are encouraging anyone who has a favorite recipe for a main dish, side dish, dessert or whatever the case may be to share that with them. He talks about the inspiration behind doing this new fundraiser came from Shelby Wiggins.

“She helped put together the one for Home State Bank. They were using a small one from their employees and give out to some of their customers. She said, ‘Geez, this is really popular. People were really loving this.’ And this seems a relatively easy way to put something neat together, just community wise and celebrate the community and connecting people. And that’s what a lot of what Jefferson Matters is about is connecting folks and what better way (then) through your belly.”

Wetrich adds that they would like to have recipes submitted by mid-February and you can click here for an online form. The proceeds from this fundraiser goes back to Jefferson Matters for everything it does for the community. He says people can also drop off their recipes to the Welcome Center at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens.
