What seasonings do people put into there batter mix? I like how mine come out but I need to ELEVATE it, I feel like I’m not doing them justice 😆

I’ve seen someone make them in curry butter which I always think would be amazing
agmanning
Salt and good flour, and a rest.
Seriously, unless you’re trying to make some viral food truck TikTok sensation nonsense, just choosing good ingredients and having good technique is what “elevates” something.
Those look pretty good to be honest. I actually think the best thing to elevate a roast is working on your gravy game.

I don’t even do salt in mine. There’s generally plenty of seasoning in whatever they’re being served with for me. I do like cooking them in either lard or duck fat though.

Their simplicity is what makes them so yum though! Maybe try white pepper instead of black pepper? (Sorry if anyone hates that idea) 😂
cockaskedforamartini
Salt and white pepper. Nothing interesting but the difference is noticeable if I don’t season the batter.
CyberSkepticalFruit
Salt pepper and mustard powder, or dried herbs would be good suggestions
carlb40
Salt and pepper, sometimes i add dried rosemary, sage, chives depending on the meat and how i feel at the time.
Dazzling-Ad6085
Sometimes if I’m feeling wild I put mustard powder into them but always salt and black pepper
_DoubleDutchess_
Always salt and pepper.
But my recent game-changing addition is garlic granules. Honestly, I’ve had so many compliments since I tried this. The trick is to add just enough for a hint of garlic.

The old adage, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it springs to mind!

They’re not meant to carry flavour, traditionally. They’re meant to carry things that carry flavour.
GrannyWeatherwaxscat
I have added a pinch of dried sage to the batter in the past.
Necessary-Inside6182
I use a pinch of nutmeg & occasionally fine grated fresh horse radish with obviously a pinch of salt. Fun fact traditionally a yorkshire pudding should have no seasoning whatsoever as the idea was for it to take on all the other flavours of a roast dinner !!
Gold-Collection2636
I put a little salt, rosemary, thyme and sage. I also use bread flour instead of plain
Strict_Ad2788
I add Coleman’s mustard powder to mine. Top tier.

Salt, Pepper, Sage, Onion powder. ooooft.
PurpleBiscuits52
Rosemary salt and pepper
Matt__Clay
Those look fantastic. If you want to get some more flavour into them, try making the batter a few days ahead of time and keeping it in an airtight container in the fridge.
Namelessbob123
A little bit of thyme works well, rosemary if I have roast Lamb.
Mucletruck
More salt than you think is necessary
Fun-Concert7086
Look great as they are!
Lost-Explanation1215
I’ve heard people putting a bit of sage and onion stuffing mix in.
Otherwise-Series-694
Splash of Worcestershire sauce and some fresh rosemary in the batter. Think it was a Jamie Oliver recipe but I swear by it
East-West1781
a few dashes of malt vinegar.
Present-Swimming-476
Salt and pepper
Sensitive_Log3990
Table salt after when still hot so it sticks

Chef friend of mine made garlic ones once. They were incredible but he is very good so probably would have been great anyway
green-chartreuse
They exist to be covered in gravy.
donkey-oh-tea
Golden yolk eggs
NearFarHereThere
I put Oregano.

Let me introduce you to a phrase that will serve you well in life: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Yorkies don’t need ‘elevating.’ They are perfect.
Illustrious-Divide95
Salt and pepper
ash894
I feel the word elevate when it comes to food should be banned.
PsychologicalCall426
Yorkies are like a blank canvas, so a pinch of smoked paprika can really jazz them up if you’re feeling adventurous.
Practical-March-6989
just a little salt please, this is not a game.
Seaside83
Don’t mess with perfection, just add lashings of thick gravy once they’re cooked and you’re laughing.
Feeling-Medium-7856
Salt and white pepper. They’re supposed to be a blank canvas. I suppose herbs are unlikely to hurt them, but I’d sooner put them in the gravy they are being served with.
WoodenEggplant4624
Mustard powder
Far-Sir-825
Onion powder was unexpectedly good. Tried it more out of hope than expectation
herebymistake2
A pinch of salt is all you need. Anything else will ruin their versatility — you haven’t lived until you’ve had a left-over yorkie with apricot jam.
