Google is saying some white spots in like Beyond Beef and stuff are safe (just spots of fat) but this doesn't look like that. They smell fine and the expiration date is a year and a half away. Is this safe to eat?

I’ve had these before and I believe it is just fat that settles at the bottom. I feel like they all look like that, I bet if you heat it up the white stuff will melt.

It looks like solidified coconut oil to me but the suggestion to contact the manufacturer is the right call.

Looks like fat deposit. Is it greasy to touch? Does the product list coconut oil as an ingredient? Could be oil that leeched out due to temperature change then solidified after. Or it could be unsafe but then cans are usually heat sealed so that nothing survives for X amount of years.

I would not eat it without cooking it first and if the spots are still present after heat is applied (ie it did not melt), then I probably would not eat it. Contacting the manufacturer (usually a number is on the package seems to be the safest move).

Edit: Just watched this YT, around 4:30, you can see that it has oil around the “unmeat”, yours probably solidified?

I’ve had them look like that, ate them just fine. It’s just oil.

It’s only coconut oil. I’ve ate this plenty of times and they all look this way recently. I think it’s a new recipe.

That looks like fat, hard to tell but it’s probably ok if it doesn’t smell bad

I’ve had lots of oil/fat lump on mine. Freaks me out because it reminds me of meat so much. Just plain nasty looking lol. I’ve cooked it up and it’s been fine!

Just looks like fat to me. Scrape a teaspoon of it and heat it up. If it melts you know it’s fine.

Email the company with clearer (clean lens) pictures for a direct answer.

Not for your cardiovascular system. Best to throw out.

It’s normal, just solidified fat. It will melt when you cook it

  13. Vegetable_Tailor_236

That’s normal. They always look like that before cooking.

Just looks like fat to m but more concerned that the meat is a different color around the edges

That looks like something that you not supposed to eat.

I’ve had the exact same look on mine many times and I’m pretty sure I lived 🤔 haha seriously though I think its alright

If that’s just fat then yes, this product usually has some fat on the surface I just remove that excess fat with a paper towel before airfrying. Mine usually doesn’t look so granular but it probably just has to do with how it was stored.
