For me, it's egg on a burger and peanut butter on a burger. I just never have been able to do eggs and meat mixed and far be it from me to ever enjoy anything but scrambled.

I also just cant bring myself to enjoy a peanut butter burger. I understand the appeal of both for others but for the life of me, even the best burger in the world would be completely turned down by me if it had either of those two. What toppings/iteration of a burger makes you feel the same way?

Pineapple. Not judging people who like Hawaiian burgers, they are just really not for me.

    Mushrooms.

    Don’t hate me, please.

I visited a burger joint in Portland, Oregon where a regular recommended their peanutbutter burger. I’m not a huge fan of peanutbutter (except in Reese’s, for some reason), but I decided to give it a shot, maybe the combination of tastes will work for me. Unfortunately, the taste of peanut was SO overwhelming I did not enjoy it at all.

Soggy bun + liquid cheese is just the worst

  5. Tomatoes – I don’t ask for water as a topping for my burger and tomatoes on burgers are just that.

I can go with sun dried tomatoes or salted/pickled tomatoes, but not regular old ones.

I will tolerate and even enjoy guac on a burger, but just sliced avocado doesn’t do it for me

  7. Peanut butter, figs w brie, and burgers on donuts.

    All nasty.

Give me a medium rare burger, muenster cheese, thick cut bacon, some sherry sauteed mushrooms, and a griddled onion roll.

And a proper ice cold beer.

    R/wewantplates has entered the chat.

In all seriousness those both look great. Would house both.

To answer the question. Overcomplicating a burger. Too many sauces/jams. Giant burgers are gross. It should follow the sushi rule. It should fit in my mouth without the need for me to squish it or use a knife and fork.

I fucking love eggs on a burger, but honestly I may just be an egg fiend

  10. I love burgers and will eat pretty much any combo.

What instantly ruins a burger for me is a shitty, stale, dry-ass bun.

Egg. Or donut buns. I’m not a purist or anything but it’s just a no from me dawg

  12. Love both egg and peanut butter, but I hate untoasted buns and too much salt.

Anything jam. Onion jam, bacon jam, any of those super sweet condiments. Some of the bbq sauces that are right up at the top end of sweetness go in the same box.

American cheese. I just hate the taste and texture of it on burgers, but I love a single slice in my grilled cheese.

Tbh theres lots of unnecessary toppings.

Depends on the type of burger but liquid cheese and mushrooms are almost always a no for me.

burger should be juicy and rich enough that a fried egg just isnt adding any particular flavor that im desiring and the runny yolk is just adding messiness that isnt needed. imho

I kinda hate it when a bbq/burger joints add pulled pork to a burger. Makes it more of a bbq sandwich than a burger to me.

Fucking pickles puss me off but I know I’m in the minority here.

  19. somethingsensational

I know I’m in the minority here but bacon.

  20. Tough bacon. Or the opposite,  whimpy limp microwave bacon.

Tomatoes with  unripe middles left in.

Too many veggies. Don’t get me wrong, I like veggies on my burger. I just hate it when they over stuff a burger with them to make it seem “bigger”… when all that does it create an imbalance between the ratio of bun, meat, and toppings.

I was in the same thought process about peanut butter a while ago. I tried one that was executed poorly, it was like meat, pickle, house sauce, and finally peanut butter.

But then I went somewhere that had house made peanut butter with pickled jalapeños and slightly sweet and spicy bacon jam. Hands down one of the best burgers I ever had. They took the tile to make sure everything was balanced

Tomato. Controversial I know, but I do not enjoy slices of tomato on a burger. It just makes everything soggy
