Sweet & sour chicken β€” but done properly. No batter, no deep frying, no soggy sauce. This modern, restaurant-style version uses pan-seared chicken breast, peppers, onion, and pineapple with a glossy sweet & sour glaze that coats instead of floods. Clean, balanced, and far better than takeaway.

  7. Potato starch really makes things crisp up!
I use it on schnitzels, or crumbed fish or prawns, before crumbing it, & when you cook it in oil, it comes out SO crunchy it's insane!
Way more than if you didn't coat your protein in it 1st!

    Nice 1 Rik!

  8. My favourite way of making sweet and sour Rik no batter I will try dusting the chicken next time though , I love using tinned pineapple too as you get the juice ready to use in the sauce , beautiful thank youπŸ‘ŒAmanda xx

  9. Up Market πŸ˜‚. My Gran used to say that and I can still see the expression on her face. This looks so good and I love the no batter. Cheers Chef.

  10. I am a self confessed sweet n sour chicken addict lol, and recently vowed to never use chicken breast again (for any recipe) as I simply had too many failures, as in the meat being dry as opposed to when using thigh fillet.
But you dragged me in Rik, you made me feel like I could get a tender chicken breast by using this method and so i had a little chat to those two fillets in the packet, and apologised in advanced for the likelihood of making them dry and inedible yet again, and them ending up in the wheelie bin 😒
They agreed to give it a go since they had nothing to lose anyway.
And it was a success! We followed your method and the meat was delicious and moist and tender and succulent!!
    Oh how we celebrated πŸ₯³ πŸ’ƒ 🍾 πŸ₯‚
Thank you Rik, this one is an absolute winner πŸ†πŸ‘
