Sometimes you just chance upon something that’s the right price (under $4) that just tastes great. I love Kura’s Hokkaido scallops but these are really good, too.

Do other people here just know what Kura is offhand?

I think I went at a bad time, but when I ordered this, it was 40% frozen :/

Other items I had at Kura tonight were: Hokkaido scallops, two orders of Chutoro nigiri, and a Negitoro handroll.

Kura is basically the worst sushi you can get in Japan. I can’t imagine how much worse it would be in the US.

Are those raw? Probably a dumb question

I loved Kura back in the day but unfortunately there are too many amazing spots around town that are also quick.

Kura is amazing. They have a yuzu dish and I can’t remember the name of it but the chef and that dish was featured on a Japanese variety show and a lot of chefs were blown away by how delicious it was. Had to try it myself and I can concur that it was amazing. Love Kura.
(Also love the gacha system they have for every 5 plates you get. Ateo much that night. Didn’t get anything though.)

So, I will visit Japan sometime within the next year. It’s been on my radar for a while. There are three things I want to do in Japan: eat all kinds of food, play Tamiya Mini4WD racing, and do Aikido at Hombu Dojo. I have friends who’ve eaten at Kura in Japan many times and they can attest to how great it is. They also have recommendations for inexpensive other kinds of food, too. I’m going!
