KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Three restaurants in the Kansas City area are closing their doors this winter.
Boru Asian Eatery will close Feb. 28 after serving the Shops of Prairie Village. The upscale Asian restaurant cited the decision as necessary to care for its team members, who will be relocated to sister restaurants.
“Boru has been shaped by this community, and your support over the years has meant everything to us,” the restaurant said in a statement.
In the midst of Boru Asian Eatery’s closure, the parent company who owns them announced upcoming openings of Third Street Social in Olathe this spring and Vertice Italian on the Country Club Plaza in late 2026.
Story, a 15-year mainstay in The Village Shops, is closing its doors. The restaurant’s space in Prairie Village is being taken over by Scratch Gourmet Kitchen, a Kansas City-based restaurant known for ‘elevated comfort food’, effective Feb. 1. The transition comes as Scratch ownership announces plans to triple its indoor dining capacity with a grand reopening March 1.
Additionally, Plate Italiano Moderno closed its Brookside location after filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June. Plate’s Leawood’s Park Place location, however, remains open for business.
