Hi all,
Just moved into a new house and this wolf grill came with the outdoor kitchen.
I’ve always cleaned my grill after every use, so I’ve never seen a grill this bad.
Any recommendations on proper cleaning for this to get it back into shape?

This is bad? Just crank up the heat, let it burn for a bit, scrape the crap of grates, use soap and water to clean the grates, run it again, oil the grates.
Build a fire under, brush the grill , apply oil with a paper towel.
Doesn’t look bad at all to me. Turn it on an leave it for 30 minutes. Lightly spray the grill with cooking oil and scrub it with a brush. All is well. I’ve seen a lot worse than that.
That’s the cleanest grill I’ve ever seen!
reddit’s usual answer is just “fire” and while this grill isn’t bad, you can do better.
get a degreaser like Easy off and spray the grates and let it soak an hour inside a garbage bag (wear gloves). It will eat away at anything organic — oils, but also mold and other residue. Then use a wire brush and soapy water and a hose if needed to really wash it all away.
The cook box can be cleaned with a plastic putty knife and soapy water (dawn). Do not get water into any electric wires or gas burner tubes.
Let it all dry out.
Heat a hot grill. When preheated after about 15 minutes, put some oil on an onion or a paper towel and lightly wipe it on the grates. You DO NOT want a sludge or heavy layer. As thin as possible, just like oiling a stainless steel pan. Do not use olive oil as it will just burn and sludge.
Certainly try heat first but I think I would end up Easy Offing the whole thing, THEN heat! I have a slight OCD issue though!
It sounds like you typically over clean your grills.
The answer 100% of the time is turn it on and let fire sort it out. Fire is the greatest cleaner known to man.
Wire brush
Actually that’s not too bad. Just crank it on high for a bit, then scrap it off and out. Should be good!
hi heat -> bunched foil -> 1/2 onion
