🍰✨ Today I’m trying the viral Cake Mix Rice Krispie Treats recipe that’s taking over the internet! I swapped the classic marshmallow mix for cake mix, and the results are INSANE—soft, sweet, and perfectly chewy.

In this video, I’ll walk you through:
✅ How to make these treats in a pan
✅ Tips for the perfect texture
✅ My honest taste test reaction

Whether you’re a Rice Krispie veteran or just here for a fun baking experiment, this recipe is too good to miss!

Recipe
2 sticks of butter
16 oz of marshmallows
1 box cake mix
6 cups rice crispy cereal

To avoid eating raw cake mix make sure you cook the powdered mix in the marshmallow mix long enough to hit 165 degrees. It goes quickly because of the high temp of the butter and sugar from the marshmallows. You can also soread the dry cake mix on a pan and bake at 350 for 4 minutes.

  1. Hard pass for me. As much as I love desserts, rice crispy treats just don’t do it for me. I’ll just make cake and call it good. Y’all have fun with it tho! 🎊 🎉
    As far as viral things go, I would be interested in it if you use homemade ingredients and not boxes of stuff or junk food. Adapt and make it you and relevant to a homesteading channel. Just my opinion.

  2. HA! Hadn't seen this so thanks for trying it for me. Don't get it. Want to get some different flavors in your Rice Krispie treats then use different cereals. Plus you can already add about anything you want to the rice krispies. I didn see someone recently make just the originals by putting everything in a casserole dish and putting it in the oven for a bit until the butter and marshmallows were melted then take it out and mix it all in the same casserole. Only one dish. hmm, wonder if I have what I need.

  3. Strawberry Rice Krispie treats sounds good with the dehydrated strawberry bits

    The Chocolate treats must be heaven

  4. I just made these but I used vanilla cake mix and they're easy and delicious!

  5. Is the cake mix heated long enough in the making of this to kill any microbes that are in the flour? You should never eat "raw" flour.

  6. I'll bet raspberry sauce drizzled across those would be perfect with the lemon!

  7. Shawn can be crazy for not liking rice crispies all he wants, he’s adorable and makes you smile….that’s all that matters ❤❤❤ Plus the spice rack helps 😂

  8. 1:27 ??? Only 1$ for that big bag? Here where I live its $5 ??? And in dollars store they have the smallest big for $3?

  9. Cake mix isn't good in rice crispy, i have did the recipe and its really bad to eat raw cake mix, its not cook even if you cook in hot butter!!! Anyways! I have a recipe, very old one in which we put a boxe of instant pouding mix,( me love the butterscotch one) any flavor you wants in with butter ,also with a big bag of small marshmallows . And some kraft caramel soften but not completely melted with chocolate chips… This is the ultimate rice crispy, and you can personalize with different pouding flavors. I have one we call foret noires because we put chocolate pouding in with cherry and white chocolate chips…. We have the water gate rice crispy toooo😊

  10. Yeah that recipe is not created by someone who knows how to cook/bake because you can't put raw cake mix in with butter & marshmallows and call that cooked. I did see the instructions were edited with ways to get around that, but I don't think that this recipe is a good idea at all.

  11. I noticed the cake mix was not cooked. How does this lady find that to be safe to eat raw cake mix? I looked it up on Google, and the reply is its not safe to eat this way. You can get food poisoning from uncooked cake mix added to the rice Krispy mixture. Before trying, check it out first.

  12. Sounds like an increase in sugar and carbs, Rice Krispie Treats are loaded with both without adding more. That being said, they sound and look really good, but in moderation!

  13. NEW SUB … Wow, that looks so good! I was gleefully happy you let your partner (husband?) taste test it. You are the only YouTuber (except one in the Carolinas) who has her husband & son taste test the food. Most ladies just have their husband/partners hold the camera and at the end the only one who gets to try it is the female doing the videos. No fair 😱 It seems almost cruel to me to do that … especially when the man keeps saying how great it smells & looks.

  14. My mother used to make Rice Krispie treats, and put vanilla ice cream between the squares to make ice cream sandwiches. She would wrap them in wax paper and freeze them they were so yummy!

  15. All the suggestions in the comments sound fantastic. I liked your idea of adding a lemon drizzle on top – that would certainly make it "fancy" krispie treats. Maybe bring on a taste tester who likes rice krispie treats? Another krispie lover would probably have more suggestions. Thanks for the tips on keeping the krispie treats soft, didn't know that – actually, my honey eats the pan too fast for me to notice if they got hard. I use a 9×9 to have thicker treats. Also, I use Crisco butter to swab the pan, does the avocado oil change the taste?

  16. I like the concept, but wouldn't you have to heat treat the cake mix, since it has raw flour in it? Being on the stovetop a few minutes isn't enough time to heat treat flour. Unheated raw flour can carry salmonella or E.coli. Heating it about 12 minutes at 350 will kill any bacteria and won't alter the taste of raw flour, I doubt it will a raw cake mix. Just a thought, just in case.

  17. "Recipe: Lemon Cake Mix Rice Krispie Treats"
    Ingredients:-
    * Butter: 1 cup (2 sticks). Use real butter, not margarine, to avoid excess moisture.
    * Marshmallows: 1 bag (16 ounces) of mini marshmallows.
    * Cake Mix: 1 box (13.25 ounces) of lemon cake mix (or any flavor like Funfetti or chocolate).
    * Rice Cereal: 6 cups of Rice Krispies.
    * Oil Spray: Avocado oil or similar (for the pan and your hands).

    Instructions:-
    * Prepare the Pan:
    Lightly spray a 9×13 inch baking pan with avocado oil or your preferred non-stick spray to ensure easy removal.
    * Melt the Butter:
    In a large pot over medium heat, melt the two sticks of butter.
    * Add Marshmallows:
    Once the butter is melted, add the entire bag of mini marshmallows. Stir frequently until they begin to melt and combine with the butter.
    * Incorporate Cake Mix:
    As the marshmallows start becoming melty, pour in the dry cake mix. Stir the mixture thoroughly until the cake mix is fully incorporated and the base is smooth and colorful.
    * Add Cereal:
    Once the mixture is fully melted and combined, turn off the heat. This prevents the marshmallows from overcooking and becoming too hard. Immediately add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies. Stir until every piece of cereal is evenly coated.
    * Press into Pan:
    Transfer the sticky mixture into your prepared 9×13 pan. To prevent sticking, lightly spray your hands with oil and gently press the treats into the corners of the pan. Do not pack them too tightly, or they will be too dense.
    * Cool and Set:
    Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature (or outside if it's cold) for at least 45 minutes until they are firm enough to cut.
    * Serve:
    Slice into squares and enjoy! The result is a soft, gooey treat with a sweet marshmallow start and a tangy lemon finish.

    Optional Variations:-
    * Chocolate: Use chocolate cake mix with cocoa-flavored rice cereal.
    * Funfetti: Use Funfetti cake mix and add extra sprinkles.
    * Lemon Glaze: Drizzle a mix of powdered sugar, a little water, and lemon extract over the top for extra sweetness.

  18. Isn’t cake flour mixing supposed to be cooked first time I am seeing this kind of cake mix using in the recipe without baking R cooking .

  19. You licked your fingers, didnt wash your hands, then pressed the rice crispies down. Not a good idea while filming on social media, lol. Lots of people r germ a phobics

  20. For Valentine’s Day, I think it would be cool to do strawberry cake mix with the crispies and cut them with heart cookie cutters, and maybe some white chocolate chip chips

  21. I like melting marshmellows and adding popcorn instead of rice krispies. form popcorn balls, or not as I eat them all, lol.
