A popular Ocean County pizzeria is set to expand this summer with a new location in Barnegat.
The owners of Pies on Nine South in Forked River are preparing to open Pies on Main, a second location that will offer gourmet pizza, Italian dishes and expanded seating.
Owner Brandi DiGiovanna told NJ Advance Media that renovations are already underway at the former Luigi’s Pizzeria location, with an anticipated opening in five to six months.
DiGiovanna said she and her husband, Ricky DiGiovanna, decided to open a Barnegat restaurant after receiving consistent customer requests and realizing that many patrons were traveling from the area.

The new restaurant will mirror the Forked River location in menu and décor. However, it will be double the size and offer significantly more seating.
“That’s the issue we always have at Pies on Nine South is we only have, like, five or six tables, so space is kind of limited,” DiGiovanna said. “But this one will have a lot more tables.”
DiGiovanna and her husband signed the lease on Jan. 16 and began renovations immediately.
Since launching their first location, Pies on Nine in Beachwood, in 2017, the couple has opened four pizzerias, with the Barnegat location set to become their fifth.
They currently operate Pies on Nine South in Forked River and have sold three previous locations.

DiGiovanna said the Beachwood restaurant was popular from the start, which encouraged them to open additional stores.
The Barnegat location at 580 N. Main St. will offer pickup and delivery service to Waretown, Barnegat and Manahawkin.
