This has got to be a joke
If that concoction won a prize ANYWHERE I would have to think the judges were all paid for or they never had a real chili or whatever else was in the competition was even more pathetic
Chili is essentially a pepper based stew/sauce/soup ,pepper being the operative word , Texas red is more of a meat sauce than a proper chili and nobody really cares what people from Texas think
Beans are always optional and most chili’s benefit from them but it’s the cook’s choice
No Maillard reaction with the beef is inexplicable and even this bowl of food atrocity would be better served with the process
The entire process of putting that together was completely illogical with taking a nap as a great example

That looks like meat sauce rather than chili. Id take my own chili over this tomato based sauce

Unusual recipe, but I would give it a go. No beans because in Texas the beans are served on the side. I put them in the chilli, I also use onions and garlic and smoked bacon.

Shite,powdered this powdered that, I use real onions real garlic, individual herbs , spices so I know how much there is of everything, and no damned Chorizo (a tiresome 21st century add to all). And Cayenne pepper. and red kidney beans, and no rice to go with it.

1-Can Tomato Sauce
1-Can Swanson Beef Broth
1-Can Swanson Chicken Broth
1-Carton of Beef broth (for boiling meat in)
First Dump of Spices:
2-TBS San Antonio Original (Mild Bills)
1-TBS Dixon (Mild Bills)
2-tsp Onion granules (Fiesta)
1-Beef Bouillon Cube (Knorr)
1-Chicken Bouillon Cube (Knorr)
¼-tsp Red Jalapeno Powder (Mild Bills)
1/8-tsp Kosher Salt
Second Dump of Spices:
1 ½-TBS San Antonio Red (Mild Bills)
1-TBS Cowtown Lite (Mild Bills)
1-TBS Champion (Mild Bills)
2-tsp Garlic granules (Fiesta)
1-TBS Cumin packed
¼- tsp Cayenne powder
¼- tsp Green Jalapeno powder
1/8-tsp White Pepper
1 pack Sazon Goya packet
¼-tsp Brown Sugar
1 golf ball sized Ownes Hot sausage patty (flatten so you can find it later) always from fresh, frozen will break apart when boiling
