SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — A chimney fire prompted a partial evacuation at Salish Lodge & Spa on Tuesday, but the lodge remained open and no injuries were reported.

Snoqualmie Fire Chief Mike Bailey said the fire was discovered by workers and was contained to an exterior chimney and the fire box behind a fireplace in the dining room area.

Crews used a ladder to inspect the chimney and cool the area, focusing on checking the interior of the dining room and the wood inside and around the chimney, Bailey said.

The cause remains under investigation, but Bailey said the fire may have been related to cracks that developed in the chimney over time, allowing heat or smoke to escape.

The dining area was evacuated as a precaution, but the lodge was not fully closed. The dining space is expected to reopen Wednesday.

Eastside Fire & Rescue assisted Snoqualmie Fire at the scene. The fire has been extinguished, and crews remained on site checking for any additional extension.
