My wife is in Charleston for work, so I tagged along to grab grub on her per diem. Walked down to Lewis on a whim after seeing someone post about it a few days ago. $48, total of $75 after tip and 2 beers. Delicious, much better than anything Texas inspired I’m eating at home in VA.

Where in VA? ZZQ in Richmond is fantastic and 2Fifty in DC is also great.
I’ve only had ZZQ catered, and it’s definitely better than Redwood in Norfolk. I’m not the biggest fan of brisket, but I knew I had to try it here.
I know it’s sacrilegious in some circles to admit you like Pierces, but I grew up going there any time I was in the area, and now I live 10 minutes from it. Sauced pork will always be my favorite BBQ, but the ribs at Lewis may be my favorite spare ribs ever.
Lewis is one of the best BBQs places in the South. I would also recommend you try Hometeam. Get a Gamechanger and the pulled pork.
Dont sleep on Melvins in Charleston..
Lewis is legit and ranks up there in the top tier of central Texas style BBQ places I have ever been including the ones in and around Austin and Houston.
If you’re there, on Saturdays they serve a Dinosaur Beef rib that’s outstanding. It’ll run you at least $50 but it’s not to be missed if at all possible. They sell out quick.
It was on our list when we went to Charleston. Was not disappointed.
brisket looks great. what was the side?
