Look, if you live in Germany, January is a 744-hour endurance test of gray skies and Vitamin D deficiency. Trying to navigate that without a crisp Riesling is basically playing life on hard mode.
I was genuinely shocked to see January took the crown for my highest consumption. Apparently (sorry Mom), I decided to single-handedly keep my liver in business while the sun was on vacation.
But check out the calendar for this month. February started on a Sunday. It’s exactly four perfect, symmetrical weeks. No awkward leftover days hanging off the end of the week. It is beautiful.
So, I’m officially starting my Dry Month now.
It’s 3 days shorter than January.
The calendar looks like a goddamn work of art.
The sun might actually appear for five minutes. Catch me on March 1st.

“Dry” month means we drink exclusively dry wines, right?!

This trend, while valid and healthy, isn’t the best approach. Moderating alcohol is important, and I don’t think binging through the holidays, taking Jan off, and then back heavy in Feb is a good plan. If you take off 15 days a month, your choice of days that’s basically half the year. And no one wants to hear about your “I’m dry January “ bullshit anyways. You do you, but don’t be holier than thou.

January is cold, dark, and everyone is already broke from the holidays, but I’ve survived it. Keep it to yourself. I’m looking for something aged in oak now!

I’m doing Try-February, I’m going to try every Cabernet and Chardonnay I can find. It’s about personal growth, really.

Wait, only 23 bottles for the whole year?
That’s less than two bottles a month. Are you sure you tracked every single one, or just the special occasions? Most people here would hit that number by Easter. 😆

Dry Rieslings are perfect for dry [insert any month]

  7. I generally do February for this reason.

Lately January has become more convenient because of events in February.

I still only do the 28 days though. My liver doesn’t know the difference.

I’ll do Drier January. It’s where we drink less and with the money we save we buy better bottles of wine!

  9. 23 scans within 1 year : means you drank 23 bottles in a year ?

That’s what is generally done in Québec, by francophone populations, initiated by a local non-profit to help alcoholics and collect funds.

Superbowl….I did dry February last year. This year decided to not miss any events.

  12. I prefer extra dry Feb. That means I only drink extra brut. It’s a weight loss programme.
