A new 20,050-square-foot Italian food marketplace may soon be joining Houston’s diverse food scene.

A project called Eataly was recently registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Eataly, an Italian grocery chain, has locations in Las Vegas, Dallas and other cities. Existing locations offer features such as marketplaces, restaurants, and culinary classes.

Scheduled to begin construction in January 2026, the project is described as a “hybrid space that combines a mix of restaurants, specialty marketplaces, cafes, bars and grab and go food counters”, according to the TDLR website.

The renovation will be in a retail space at 5000 Westheimer Rd. in the Centre at Post Oak and is projected to be completed by fall 2026, according to the filing.

The estimated cost of the project is listed on the TDLR filing as $11.5 million.

Representatives of Eataly and the design firm associated with the project, Gensler, declined to comment.

Eataly has a global presence with a footprint in U.S. cities like New York City, Los Angeles Las Vegas, New Jersey, Boston and Dallas, according to the company’s website.

The Eataly brand is known for its marketplaces and cafes that offer immersive food and dining inspired by Italy’s culinary history.

The restaurants, cafes, grocery market, cooking classes and wine and spirits at Eataly celebrate food traditions in the various regions of Italy. Guests can learn the origins of different pastas, understand the different types of olive oil, practice the art of making perfect espresso and more.
