(update thx everyone, i put the recipe up in the comments below) 😃✌️ My kids wanted brownies and I didn’t have any chocolate in the house. Didn’t have time to run to the store so I improvised and made these pecan blondies.

My dad used to bake for us all the time growing up and we helped a lot

If I had choice of my mum or my dad’s baking, it dad all the time. My mum can make cinnamonrolls that break teeth and dent walls.

That looks Amazing, I wish I could have a slice!

Women belong in the kitchen. Men belong on the kitchen. Children belong in the kitchen.

Cooking is a basic life skill!

Another dad baker here! I do my kids bday cakes nearly every year. My wife cooks and I bake and we have some delicious food, breads, and desserts every week 💚

I’m a professional baker and pastry chef since the 70s, so nearly 50 years, and professionally it was almost always men in the lead baking roles, women more on the pastry side and usually that had more to do with heavy weights (flour bags used to come in 100lb sacks vs 50 now) and harsh conditions rather than gender based ability. Now there seems a larger percentage of women in baking and pastry roles than men.

a few people asked for the recipe….im putting up what I believe was very close to what I did …

Pecan Blondies or that’s what I’m calling them, I’m not a professional chef or baker, but I do play that part daily at home for my family, near every meal for almost 18 years lol and glad to do it

    Two 9 inch springform pans

This was eyeballed and adapted from my brownie recipe. A few people asked for it, so this is what I remember.

    Ingredients

3 sticks butter, I melt it

3 cups brown sugar, light or dark

    4 large eggs

    1 tablespoon vanilla

    2 teaspoons salt

2.5 or 3 cups all purpose flour..I think it was three but 2.5 will work too

    Candied Pecans

    About 2 cups pecan halves

    Half a stick of butter

    1 cup brown sugar

    1 tablespoons cinnamon optional

    1 teaspoon cayenne optional

    1 teaspoon salt

    Method

    Oven 325°F. Butter pans lightly

    Mix flour and salt

    Stir in brown sugar

    Stir in eggs

    Stir in vanilla

    Stir in melted butter last

    Divide into pans

Then butter for pecans add sugar, cinnamon, cayenne if using, and salt, heat to a bubble and add pecans and stir around

    Put pecans on top

Bake 45 to 55 minutes until set

thx to all I wish everyone a happy year forward

My 26 year old great nephew, who looks like a 6′ 6″ bearded Viking, has loved cooking and sewing since he was a teen. No, he’s not gay. He bakes for friends, caters small events, sews baby or wedding quilts for all his friends and holds down a demanding job. He says he gets the side eye sometimes from people who think cooking is not something men do!
