A much loved restaurant in Newcastle had a not to ‘mysterious’ visitor on Saturday afternoon, when pop star Peter Andre came through the doors for a bite to eat, following his show in town the previous night. And he chose the same venue that was loved by United legends at a time when he was riding high in the charts.

Thankfully for all us lovers of quality Italian cuisine, Newcastle city centre has loads to choose from, from chains like Ask, Bella Italia and Zizzi to traditional gems like Puccini on Pudding Chare, which recently re-opened after having to shut at Christmas due to electrical issues, Portofinos on the top of Dean Street, where music legend Jools Holland visited on his recent trip to Tyneside.

And another of the brilliant and longest standing Italians in town in Uno’s Trattoria on the Quayside. And that’s where Mysterious Girl, Insania and Flava singer Peter headed to with friends on Saturday, having entertained a captive audience up the road at the Tyne Theatre on Friday night with his Frankie Valli tribute.

The team at Unos were delighted to see him, sharing photos of him inside the restaurant and writing: ‘We had a mysterious guest join us for some lunch today… Of course it was Peter Andre who joined us! Absolutely brilliant having you in @peterandre lovely to have you! Never know who you might meet in Uno’s.’

Peter, who signed his name on the wall before he left the restaurant, was full of praise for both the staff and food as he talked about his time in Newcastle on his Instagram story on Saturday afternoon, when he also revealed he’d stayed at the nearby Malmaison, concluding: “We love you Newcastle!”

Uno’s is the place that many of NUFC’s famous Entertainers loved going to in the 90s, with a number of them, including Darren Peacock, Ruel Fox, Peter Beardsley, John Beresford and Rob Lee heading there at the start of last year for a reunion, 30 years on from their wild nights out at the restaurant.
