Here in South India we call these ‘cow peas’ in English. ( they do have local names as well). They are from beans family.
We too make a side dish rather similar. The pods are chopped smaller, washed and cooked with salt until just tender. Then they are sautéed with finely chopped onions, garlic and green chillies. Topped with grated fresh coconut and finely chopped cilantro.

Such beans with nutrients are wasted by boiling n sraing the water.such simply saute the beans in the garlic n onion n cover with lid forv5 mins on low heat makes it tastiest n crunchy
