As a regular consumer of these salsas I can confirm they’re pretty good as a store bought/processed salsa. My favorite is the Salsa Taquera. I don’t shop processed salas very often, but when I do, this is the one.

Have you tried this brand and variety? Do you have a favorite kind, or prefer another brand?

My dad called recently for tech help. I asked him which browser he was using and he said AOL!

Herdez, watery and over salted. NTY.

It’s been a minute since the last time I had some, but as far as I can remember, it tastes the same as all other jarred salsa – terrible compared to home-made.

Lol I would expect an AOL article to say Herdez is the best

just had lucky habanero…honestly really good.

Casa Sánchez makes excellent refrigerated salsa that is widely available in the bay area. I do think this article is specifically about shelf stable salsa though and for that there is papalote and sabor mexicano home made that are both better than any Herdez.

lol at the AOL hate. Had a good laugh reading the comments.

The article is actually from Simply Recipes which is a cooking blog that has some good recipes every now and then but I guess the article was picked up by AOL? Not sure how that works but whtv.

Anyway, I’m not saying Herdez is the best, but as far as processed salsas go, it’s pretty good IMO. It was interesting to see Mexican chefs saying it’s good.

Some of the ones posted here are store bought but obviously fresh salsas with a short shelf life, I would put those in a separate category, they’re obviously going to be much better than the processed canned shit I’m talking about.

  8. Herdez is cheap, and actually good.

Also lol is AOL trying to become relevant again and throwing AI bots at us?

I actually like Herdez because it’s simple, only has a few ingredients, and tastes relatively fresh for jarred salsa. It might not be the best, but it’s good. Although I prefer homemade.

However, only four “professionals” were mentioned and Herdez was the only salsa they talked about. It was clearly a native advertisement and not a real article.
