I am making about 40 cookies like the ones pictured (these were the cookies I made to use as a photo for my order form). I have been having trouble with color bleed so I want some advice. I add white to my icing, keep my icing as thick as possible, and let the colors sit overnight before using the icing. I still have issues with bleeding. So my question is should I let the base layer completely dry before I add the words? Or just let it crust over and then add the words? I was originally planning to let the base layer dry overnight and then do the writing the next day, but I've had color bleed when I've done that so now I'm wondering if it's better to do them the same day. Any and all advice is welcome! Thanks!

I’ve had the most luck, lately, with letting the first layer get crusted enough to where the weight of the second layer doesn’t make the first layer give at all (I hope this makes sense).

Whenever I wait until the next day to do my second layer, I have color bleed, even if I use the dehydrator.

    You’ll likely get mixed feedback.

A dehydrator will be your best friend for preventing color bleed.
