Had my day of from work so decide to speriment cooking something to pair with Rinaldi’s Freisa. Went for a Radicchio, taleggio and speck risotto!

Tasting notes:

LANGHE FREISA RINALDI 23

This wine is a wonderful expression of one of Piedmont’s most interesting native grapes. In the glass it reveals a luminous ruby hue with delicate garnet reflections with vibrancy and depth.

I really loved its inviting bouquet to the nose with notes of strawberry, raspberry, red currant and subtle floral notes of dried rose petals, sweet spice all ending with a touch of earthy underbrush. With some time gentle balsamic nuances emerges giving this masterpiece further complexity.

My expectations were so high and when I tasted it I wasn’t let down!

Excellent acidity, nice fruity notes and Freisa’s hallmark tannins provide structure maintaining the wine’s elegance. Aromas of cherry, pomegranate, blood orange glide toward a refined, slightly savory finish that ends with a touch of white pepper, herbs and graphite.

Freisa is so underrated. Love that you paired it with radicchio and taleggio, the bitterness must have played beautifully off those tannins. That risotto sounds like a perfect match. How did you find the 2023 vintage compared to other years?
