2 Oz pour at Saison in SF.
A tiny bit disappointed, to be honest, compared to the other d'Yquem vintages I've had. Found the 2015 to be superior. But it's still d'Yquem, so perhaps I'm being too harsh.
This is still a great Sauternes, but a little thinner on the palate and it's not just the young age.
Apricot, marmalade, pineapple cake, citrus. Nice acidity, balanced sweetness, maybe even some tannins on this.
I did enjoy it a lot, but expected a little more.
Perhaps age will help.
93 points (on a dessert wine scale).

The pinnacle of dessert wines! I had a ‘97 a couple weeks ago. Simply fabulous
I enjoyed a bottle of this over the holidays. It needs to age longer, but the local shop doesn’t sell any older.
Not a great vintage for Sauternes, super dry in the second half of growing season so late botrytis etc. so this makes sense.
I finished off my ’85 tonight, a similarly weak year for Sauternes.
