MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Myrtle Beach hosted its third annual Oyster and Arts event, bringing food, art, and live music to the area on Saturday.
The event ran from noon to 4 p.m. and featured Carolina Select oysters along with a wide array of other food and drinks to benefit the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum.
Attendees also had the chance to browse a curated selection of local artists and craftspeople showcasing their work.
“The Myrtle Beach Art Museum is celebrating 25 years in this particular location. The building is over 100 years old, and it really is a big part of the arts and culture scene in the bottom of each area,” said George Durant, Chairmen Board of Trustees for Myrtle Beach Art Museum. “And this is one of our big fundraisers that supports all the programming and the exhibits and everything we bring to the area.”

“There’s a big arts community in the Myrtle Beach area. We have everything from crafts, fine art, paintings, sculpture, pottery, you name it. Even painting oyster shells is the theme we have today. So you name the medium and we’ve got it here today. And it was actually a really robust attendance. People really walked around the vendors and got to experience all the talent we have in the community,” said Durant.
Durant said the nice weather made the event absolutely perfect, with hundreds, if not thousands, attending and experiencing all the talent in the community.
