🧾 Ingredients – Southern Style Sausage & Gravy
1 lb breakfast sausage
2–3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2-3 tablespoons oil or reserved sausage grease
1 can condensed milk
Water (to thin gravy as needed)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
🥣 Southern Sausage Gravy (Beginner-Friendly Directions)
Don’t worry—this recipe is very forgiving. Just go slow and stir often.
Cook the sausage
Put a skillet on medium heat. Add the sausage and cook it, breaking it up with a fork, until it’s fully browned and no pink is left. Remove the meat.
Check the grease
Leave the grease in the pan. If the pan looks dry, add 2-3 tablespoons of oil.
Add the flour
Sprinkle the flour. Cook until you see the flour starting to brown. This helps thicken the gravy.
Pour in the condensed milk slowly
Turn the heat to medium-low. Slowly pour in the condensed milk while stirring the whole time. Stirring prevents lumps.
Add water little by little
Add a small splash of water, stir, then check the thickness. Keep adding a little at a time until the gravy looks thick but pourable. Add the meat back in.
Season the gravy
Add salt and black pepper. Start small—you can always add more.
Let it simmer
Let the gravy gently cook on low heat for 5–10 minutes, stirring often so it doesn’t stick.
Serve and enjoy
When the gravy is thick and creamy, turn off the heat and spoon it over hot biscuits.

This is my favorite breakfast food 😊
I like your cooking videos. I also take the meat out of the skillet, but instead of using veg oil, I fry up 3-4 slices of bacon. The bacon grease gives your gravy a much better taste than oil.
Aww his wife is adorable and hilarious she should definitely be in more videos!
Crazy don't care what people thinks. Roger needs a sidekick to keep him straight.
It was a pleasure meeting you. Hope to see you along the trails.

Ok. I take my sausage out like you do. I put in bacon fat and sweet milk instead of canned milk and oil. Its hard to beat it for breakfast.
Glad to meet your lady also.
Roger, I live very close to E-town. Did y’all have family in E-town?
You are adorable Mrs. Roger!!! You are gorgeous!!!♥️♥️♥️
LOOKS GREAT
Why use self rising flour instead of all purpose flour
glad you use the flour/roux method and not that fake country corn starch gravy
Looks delicious
