I made a batch of venison sloppy joes (Angi Schneider’s book) and I ended up short a lid. I figured I just miscounted and tossed one more into the lid simmer pot.
I’m just putting away the jars and noticed one is a double lid! They must’ve “sealed” together when simmering. Hah!
Ever happen to any of you? First for me!

Ugh. Yes. Made the absolute best roasted tomatillo salsa. Rationing it out over the year. Got to the last two and noticed one of them wasn’t popped down on the lid. So I fed it to the chickens in an abundance of caution once I smelled it of course. When I opened it the air sucked in but I’m not risking it and gave it to them. Only.to realize when cleaning up that two lids stuck together so I wasn’t pushing the actual top.
You shouldn’t be simmering your lids

Most lids don’t need to be simmered anymore. Ball actually recommends against it. Just washed in hot water.
As a side note unrelated to your issue, OP, (which I have done once too!) she’s got some unsafe recipes in her books. We don’t recommend them here. Sorry. 🙁
As I wash my lids now, I flip them face up/face down/face up in the bowl so this doesn’t happen anymore. I forget who here taught me that trick, but it’s what I do now!
