Just a follow up to [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/FoodNYC/s/TkkQleUa33)

Firstly, thanks everyone who gave us recommendations. We had a lot of spots to cover and not enough time, we also didn’t want to have a very rigid itinerary so aside from restaurants that required reservations in advance, we ended up eating at whatever spots were on our list that happened to be near where we were that day.

The reviews are mine and my wife’s; she has a *slightly* more developed palate than I do. Simple ratings on each meal’s photo, further description below for each spot, these are in no particular order. Excuse the abysmal photography skills. Happy to hear everyone’s thoughts!

Librae

Everything was delicious: lemon curd babka, za’atar muffin, olive bread, feta-dill scone, tahini choc chip cookie. Overall 9/10 from both of us.

In Common NYC

Scrambled eggs on toast with salad and avocado, plus a fancy BEC. Both were excellent, simple and well done. 9/10 from both of us.

L’Industrie

Margherita and pepperoni were excellent. Hot honey didn’t add much. 9.5/10 for me, 8.5/10 for my wife.

Domodomo

Decided to go here as we were going to an event at LPR afterwards (Y2K party – trying to relive our youth) and wanted something Japanese nearby. Cucumber salad and edamame were decent, maki rolls were okay. Korean fried chicken was the standout. 7.5/10 for me, 6/10 for my wife.

Harry’s Bagels

Sesame bagel with lox and cream cheese and an LA bagel (bacon, avocado, egg, sautéed onions). Both 9/10.

Antoya Korean BBQ

Got the premium beef platter, was underwhelming overall unfortunately, we remembered this being much better during our last visit in 2021. 7.5/10 for me, 6/10 for my wife.

Culture Espresso

Chocolate chip cookie was very good. 8.5/10 for me, 7/10 for my wife.

Keens Steakhouse

Had initially booked Peter Luger but ended up canceling and opting for Keen’s instead following many recommendations. The venue is beautiful, the salad we had was also great and we expected the steak to follow suit. Had the porterhouse for two (medium), was lacking in flavor and crust. Food didn’t justify the hype, not sure if they were having an off day. 6.5/10 for me, 5/10 for my wife. Atmosphere was great.

Pastis

Croque madame (9/10), avocado tartine (8.5/10), buttermilk pancakes (8.5/10). Pancakes were fluffy but slightly doughy. Overall 9/10 for me, 8.5/10 for my wife.

Smacking Burger

Best burger I’ve ever had, 10/10.

F&F Pizzeria (Brooklyn)

Regular and pepperoni slices were very good. 8.5/10 for me, 8/10 for my wife. No tourist crowd, always a plus (ironic, I know).

Cipriani

Solid and consistent. Veal piccatine, puttanesca, spinach-ricotta ravioli. 8/10 for both.

Caffè Panna

Olive oil ice cream was excellent for me (9/10), 0/10 for my wife on account of not liking the flavor, but texture was excellent. Didn’t try other flavors as snuck this one in on the way to dinner.

Honorable Mentions

Chick Fil A: doesn’t exist where we live but is our favorite fried chicken spot. Had this after a broadway show (twice).

Shake Shack: drove out to Jersey on one of the days, had this for lunch on the road.

Tacos No. 1: love it. Flour tortillas are elite, corn not so much.

Mamoun’s Falafel: went to their NOHO location on our previous visit, went to their upper east side location this time, felt much less authentic/more corporate, order through a screen etc. Still a solid bite though.

I didn’t even know about Librae. My stomach thanks you and my wallet and waist line curse you.

  2. Me thinks you like food better than your wife haha.

  3. Dareeyecare

Is your wife Larry David ?

    “So— What’d you think?”

    “Eh……”

Thanks for the update on your last post! Glad you went with Smacking Burger instead of 7th St Burger.

And lol that stark difference of Caffe Panna scores 10/10 vs 0/10.

  5. moderndiction

Man, I walk by In Common every day on my way to work and figured it was some meh tourist spot. I’ll have to stop in.

Keens and you didn’t order the mutton?

  7. ted_the_ked1

Steakhouse food is never great imo. I really think you get a better streak at the countless French bistros nyc compared to any of the historic steak houses

  8. Lima_Bean_Jean

I feel the same way about Caffe Panna…

    Two after the fact suggestions.

1.) Keen’s recent bought by new owners and I think it’s fallen off a bit.

2.) Nubiani is right now IMO the best KBBQ spot in Manhattan’s Koreatown.

  10. Spirited_Truth2036

I think the mutton in Keen’s is their signature dish.

Cancelling Luger for Keens is a crime.

Between the Pete Welles review and this subs general aversion to famous places, Luger is now extremely underrated on this sub.

  12. luckyflavor23

The underrated hits at Culture Espresso 🍪 are the Oatmeal Cranberry and Corn 🌽 cookie. And I’ve always loved them more than levain and new comers

  13. dynamitexlove

The only 10/10 was when you were alone. Sounds like the rating could be for more than the burger

When I lived in the City I used to think that L’industrie was overrated, then I moved to Miami where pizza in general is not so great and I finally realized what makes their pizza so good. I do prefer John’s of Bleecker though.

  15. Should’ve gone with Luger, they’ve been hot lately had amazing meals the last 2x
