I used to use Insanity to spice stuff up, but no longer, since it tastes so foul.
I now have a bottle of Garlic Reaper and Apollo in my fridge, and I add those to spice things up. For example.. mix some of either into a small bit of Ranch, and you have a perfect dipping sauce. : )

Was over BIL’s house and my wife brought a crock pot of chili over. I asked if he had any hot sauce to spice my bowl up. He gave me Dave’s. I never had it or heard of it and put way too much in my bowl. I had one spoonful and had to grab the bottle to see what hell I just put in my mouth. I finished the bowl (can’t waste food) but I paid the price. Eyes watering, nose running, belly sad. First and last encounter with Dave’s.
Dave’s insanity used to be tastey… like 20 years ago. But, maybe that’s just nostalgia messing with me again.

If you go with Dave’s do the scorpion sauce. Theres no pepper extract in it that gives the no good taste.

Man I remember trying Dave’s Insanity with a friend back when I was in 8th grade. 1994-95? It tasted like ass back then and from the comments it seems like it’s still the same.
Just a little is great and works with flavors if you are eating food with flavor. I like it but only a little is required to get lit- too much will be too intense and some people can’t enjoy the very spicy things and turn the discussion into a mirror of their tired “i like spicy flavor but nashville hot chicken is just heat with no flavor” argument instead of just admitting that it is too spicy for them lol.

Buddy placed a few plops of Dave’s insanity under my steak. I had spent most of the day prepping for the meal. Lit me up. Ate it but not a lot of flavor. Just pure heat.

This was almost my reaction to this sauce second for second, including reading the label and seeing “extract.” Very hot, but you could tell there was a chemical crutch. I put it next to my sink and paused for a second, because I had to do this, but dumped it out. Definitely not a sauce I’d reach for again.

Dave’s Insanity Sauce was one of the original extract-based sauces from the 90s. It pushed the limits of spiciness, but it tastes terrible. Their ghost sauce is spicier with a somewhat better flavor.
I used to add a dash of Dave’s ghost sauce to Tabasco and call it spooky sauce.

Have you tried Dave’s Gourmet Ghost Pepper/Naga Jolokia sauce? I think insanity is 200,000ish vs the ghost Pepper one is 650,000.
I learned the hard way it’s not intended for pizza crust (and used like ketchup, my first mistake).
Also also – I will always recommend taste tests with a sauce down approach, so it’s hitting your tongue/taste buds rather than the roof of your mouth, to really get a sense of the flavour. (I say this for non spicy things too)
You gotta try Bravado Aka Miso ghost-reaper sauce. Not only is it super spicy, but it has a flavor that is out of this world yummy
I love this stuff. I’ve killed 2 dozen bottles at least (over the years).
Cmon man.. make sure to get a few drops on your fingers and wipe your eyes!
