Had a big bowl of pasta, 2 glasses of wine, and a big slice of cheesecake on Valentine’s Day
And now I’m starting to wonder if my weight loss progress from before was just lost water weight, since my Valentine’s Day water weight didn’t go away.

shouldn’t matter honestly. If you’re in this for the long run don’t trip up and get down on yourself for seeing a small fluctuation in the scale. Look at the big picture

Look at long term trends, not daily progress. Week over week, month over month.

When I was eating in a deficit I took lots of weekend trips and I’d always come back 5+ lbs heavier. It would take a week or so to taper off. When I went to Paris despite walking literally everywhere and still not going crazy on the food I was 9lbs heavier!
It’s normal and will taper off. Funnily enough now that I’m maintaining my weight doesn’t fluctuate like that at all. Maybe a 2lb difference if I’ve been eating high sodium or drinking that always goes away after a week or so.

If your app doesn’t chart weight trends, try tracking your weight in Happy Scale app. Seeing weight trends can keep you from worrying about day to day fluctuations up and down.
