Ok…for a person who has never had a filet-o-fish…EVER, am I truly missing out on something? I like mc’ds but always thought the sandwich was suspect. Like, why would I ever eat a fish sandwich at a hamburger joint. Should I dabble?

I used to order two double fillets after my last shift working 12.5 hour ER shifts 8 days in a row at a trauma hospital. It was my glutinous reward for surviving 100 hours in that pressure cooker and polished off with a four pack of IPA pint cans. It sounds excessive but I’d sleep 10 hours easy afterward and feel ready for my six days off. I did this schedule for over a year so I guess that makes 50+ sandwiches during that stretch. Love that sandwich.

I really really like the Filet o Fish, but the pricing has gotten preposterous.
I can make a banging tartar sauce from scratch, I figured out how to steam hamburger buns in the microwave, just having a hard time finding frozen battered fish that’s suitable – that isn’t insanely expensive for what it is.
It’s also kind of a PITA to source a single slice of processed cheese for a couple of burgers and I’ll settle with some frozen shredded cheese from my freezer, topping the fish a minute or two before it’s done.

Get a double fish patty and add lettuce and tomato and extra tartare sauce. But, it must be eaten right away.
