  1. So what kind is it? Saying Whale is like saying grazing animal. Can be anything.

  2. That looks good, and I think it should qualify as “steak” per their rules. It comes from the sea, but it’s not fish.

    Looks more like walrus tenderloin.

    Whale is more gray.

That Minke whale looks spectacular. Can you describe the taste?

A lot of you are wondering about the taste, i tried describing it in the post i posted on the other subreddit. Here is a copy:

”I can try describing it, but im no master chef so i dont know what to compare it with other than regular steak but with maybe a sharper-ish taste(?). Like whale has its own taste i would say but it reminds me a lot of regular steak, but texturewise its basically like regular steak.

In other words, its steak but swimming“

Got any before pics? What’s whale steak look like and how is it packaged/sold in Norway?

My buddy’s uncle brought us a can of whale meat from Japan and I remember it tasting like really mushy, tender beef jerky.

I tried whale in iceland and felt bad, but sounds like its fine, right? Prob was minke whale which wouldnt be unsustainable or endangered?

Looks raw, Give it to me so you don’t have to eat it

I appreciate the steak, but I’m more interested in the scalloped? potatoes in some type of cheese sauce…

Whale? …as in Baleen or Blue or Right? … as in “Thar she blows!” ?

I had perfectly grilled whale steak in Japan. My cousin almost disowned me but it was unsurprisingly just like decent steak. Just another mammal.

For some reason I thought it would look more like a tuna steak than a beef steak.

Definitely whale? I’ve seen whale meat before and it was pretty much black, even raw.

I’ve heard it’s a cross of Vinson, Tuna, and Liver. That sounds just awful. What would you compare it to?
