Photographers are invited to submit images capturing iftar and sohour traditions from 26 governorates.

Photographers across Egypt have been invited to submit images for ‘Sofra w Tableya’, a new exhibition by Photopia documenting Ramadan dining culture across the country.

The open call seeks visual stories from cities, villages and rural areas, covering both iftar and sohour, whether at home or in public spaces.

The initiative is presented in collaboration with Documentaries 2000.
Participants may submit up to three recent photographs that reflect the Ramadan food identity of their governorate.

Each image must clearly convey a sense of place and feature a well-known dish associated with the applicant’s city or governorate.

Submissions must be accompanied by a description of no more than 250 words identifying the dish and explaining the story or moment captured, with emphasis on the communal rituals and atmosphere surrounding Ramadan meals.

Selected works will be exhibited at Photopia after Eid al-Fitr, forming a visual record of Ramadan food heritage and daily dining practices across 26 governorates.

The top three participants will be formally recognised, with their work highlighted within the exhibition, alongside other selected entries.
Applications are being accepted through a Google Form available via Photopia’s bio.
