Just saved myself $50 on an ash catcher by using a $3 stainless steel dog bowl.

You’ll want a handle and will probably want to put other holes in it for air flow. Your ash will spill out the side.

Idk that bucket but I know mine and I know you’ll want a way to pick that up with it full of ash without spilling it all over the place. I have no clue if that metal will hold up or if it will put off chemicals when it’s hot either.

That’s pretty much it. My kick ash can has been in operation for years and is actually cracked up near the bowl edge but it works fine

All it cost you was the bowl and some time. If it works for you, it works.

I always use my old ashes as fertilizer for my plants.

Shop vac works great Before each cook I vacuum out all the leftover ash.

What are the dimensions of the bowl and what size egg?

Awesome! I am constantly getting downvoted on this sub. Every half hour someone posts about their eggsetter getting broken. I will reply how I make my own with some metal bar and a ceramic pot setter for about 10-15 bucks. Eggsessories are not always worth the money.
