As you can see, there is a long branch on 2 of these. I had a fight with some of the local rats until the apartment complex got off their rear and got rid of them. I have pulled them indoors during cold weather. Should I cut off these long branches and let them bush out from the base?

Yes. Your plant can’t handle all that weight without the support of the stem. Allowing the top growth will end up causing the stalk to bend and/or break.
