Caché, a neighborhood French bistro set up in the Sunset, first opened in March 2025 with chef Simon Mounier and business partner Florent Thomas serving a seafood-friendly menu. They attracted attention for an eye-catching seabream sashimi reassembled to resemble a whole fish, but they’ve since changed the menu in favor of seasonal options, retiring that crowd favorite until the right season comes back around. I was invited back into the restaurant to try the menu again at its one-year anniversary, and here’s what I enjoyed this time around.
There are wine- and soju-based cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks available, but if you want to imbibe, I’d say to go with wine. There are suggested pairings for most dishes, but Thomas — who sourced all the California and European wines on the list — is more than happy to find something sippable for guests and lead them through the selections.
Caché has two prix fixe menus that can lighten the monetary load of a meal out. On Monday, Thursday, and Friday, the restaurant offers a three-course meal (appetizer, entree, and dessert) for $30. On a daily basis, Caché offers an early bird, three-course menu with items from the a la carte dinner menu for reservations made before 5:30 p.m., for $50.
