Hey eggheads, a while back someone asked for proof that I can get an egg over 700degrees in 30min. My experience was that it usually only takes 20min or so then I have to turn the temp down.
If you don't know what the 10-10-10 method is, you light the lump with the lid open and bottom vent open, then 10 minutes with lid closed and both vents open, then the last 10 mins you adjust to the temp you'd like to cook at.
I light with a blowtorch in a couple spots to get things rollin, settled in at 450 to smoke some wings at the end for dinner. Hopefully this is helpful for someone!

I will have to try that.
I want to do a clean burn anyways. I went my first 5 years without a clean burn then did one last year. But I smoked some pretty fatty meat and the reegulator is sticking
I have one of those electric loop starters and never have a problem getting the temp up in 20-30 min. Adding the conveggtor usually puts a huge crimp in things and makes settling on a temp challenging, but for a straight grilling, no problem.
