Hi! I usually don’t count my calories and eat whatever interests me when im hungry. my mom is a giant health nut so i usually eat pretty healthy foods. this morning my mom watched me making my parfait thingy and said it was too many calories for breakfast.

I used 0% milkfat greek yogurt (shown in 3rd image), 1/4th of an apple (i ate the other 1/4th and put the other half in the fridge for tomorrow), whole grain flakes, and some honey(may have overdid it with the honey cause i love it)

thank you in advance!

Your mother needs to keep the calorie talk away from you. This is a perfectly reasonable breakfast and like what, 400 calories at most?
You’re a growing teenager and teens generally need more calories than adults.
Like honestly. She’s gonna get in your head. Respectfully, tell her to keep her disordered eating to herself

This is such a small portion, I think this is no more than 200 calories, maybe 250 if the honey’s overflowing/the cup larger than it appears.
This is a pretty small breakfast, so you’re right, your mom’s a nut.
Does she want your breakfast to be black coffee?

my mum is also a health nut coz she has got multiple sclerosis, which can be caused by inflammation. however, the reaction your mum gave to this is insane! this is a completely fine breakfast with fibre, protein, and a healthy amount of carbs to start the day. also, it is unlikely there are excess additives in any of the things you used. if your mum was truly a health nut and actually did her research, she would be much more focused on the additives in the food eaten, not the calories. yes, it’s important to not go overboard, but this is NOT overboard at all! ignore your mum xx

If anything, I would say younger people need some fat in their dairy rather than non-fat (unless they’re on a strict calorie limit under Dr supervision, which out doesn’t seem you are). Fast free yogurt (80-90), 1/2 apple (40-50), some cereal (40-50) and some honey (50?) add up to no more than 240-250 calories.
