  2. Cool thing about Lion’s Mane, you can find it in the woods in the late fall! And there’s no look alikes so you don’t have to stress about mixing it up with a toxic mushroom. You can buy kits to grow your own.

  3. Mushroom tastes foul. Sorry, it's in all the veggie versions of meat and it tastes foul. If you've not got no taste buds, I'm sure it's fine.

  4. theres a lot of mushrooms that taste like meat! theres one variety here in turkey called "kanlıca" which means bloody, because it leaks red when you cut it. its this orange and green color, looks like weathered copper. and it tastes so meaty just with butter and salt. its more like a fried ham than beef though. ive heard of ones that taste like chicken in america too

  5. I can't wait for the farmers markets near me to reopen, there's a mushroom guy there and I've gotten to try so many new ones. Chicken of the Woods is so good too!

  6. Lions mane is only good for about 72hrs after it is picked and about 40$ a lbs. Really expensive and you can grow your own for much cheaper. They also taste similar to lobster and by growing more then you need accidentally could sell to your friends or that 😂 dealer you frequent

  7. You should try looking for fistulina hepatica which is known as beefsteak fungus. You can guess what it's like although I never tasted one yet

  8. I found lions mane on clearance a couple weeks ago and gave it a try. I think the only people it will convince they're eating meat are people that haven't had meat in a very very long time. It's good, but it didn't in any way convince my brain I was eating meat.

  9. not sure if anyone will see this but i used to eat grass a kid and it obviously would make me throw up. the taste and texture of rocket is so similar to that of grass i physically cannot eat it no matter how hard i try because my body sees it as dangerous

  10. It's the french word and arugula is Italian. But lions Maine is an awesome mushroom. As are most polypores. It has a compound that improves memory, drug companies have isolated it to treat Alzheimer's

  11. This looks yummy, but I'm gonna be very real with people: meat substitutes are not meat.

I've talked with a lot of people who complain to me that vegetarian and vegan substitutes don't recreate the same taste or texture of meat, and that's because they can't. They're there to be accessible as a non-meat alternative, and the sooner people realise that these have a totally different type of flavour, the better.

  12. I'm not vegan, but I really enjoy mushrooms. I'd honestly try a lion's mane "steak". Although I'm unsure if I'd do it correctly 😅

  13. i'll always love that woodmans keeps lions mane in stock because im to lazy to hunt it down in the woods

  14. I developed an allergy to mushrooms a few years ago and I am so sad because they are delicious and I want to try all the fun ones like Chicken of the Woods, BUT ALLAS- I SHANT T-T

  15. the lengths people will go to instead of just eating meat something that is the most natural thing ever is just astonishing

  16. If it wasn't so expensive that would be a fantastic alternative. Also very difficult to find.
